Carisoprodol is a pain reliever but should be used only when prescribed by your
doctor.

Certain guidelines have to be followed when using carisoprodol. Never take the drug
without the doctor prescribing it. The drug can be habit-forming so never go for

do so when on treatment, or is a nursing (breast-feeding) mother. And the medication

The drug is also not suitable for children under 12 years of age.

While taking Carisprodol it is important to keep in the mind, some
guidelines about, how the drug is to be taken, the dosage, and what to avoid while
on the medication.
Take the exact dosage : Always ensure that the correct dosage is
taken. Never exceed or lessen the dosage prescribed by the doctor. Also the course
of medication should not be prolonged the prescription be followed strictly. Every
dose should be taken with a full glass of water. The drug should be kept at ambient

In case a dose is missed : when a dose is missed, it can be taken

Avoid these when using Carisoprodol : Carisoprodol may manifest

pain killers, muscle relaxants, and medicine for seizures, depression or

Look for the symptoms of allergy and side effects :
Allergy : People with a history of drug allergy should always look
for the related symptoms. Medical help should be sought at once in case of allergic
reactions. The symptoms include:
* hives
* difficulty in breathing
* swelling of face, lips, numb and swollen tongue, or sore throat
Severe side effects : The drug should be stopped and emergency
medical help sought at once in case of severe serious side effects which include:
* paralysis (loss of sensation);
* extreme fatigue or lack of coordination;
* li ght-headedness, fainting;
* rapid heartbeat;
* seizure (convulsions);
* blurred vision
* agitation, confusion.
Milder side effects : In case of milder side effects the drug can
be taken and the doctor should be consulted. These include
* drowsiness, dizziness, tremor
* headache;
* feeling depressed or annoyed
* blurred eye sight
* sleep problems (insomnia); or
* nausea, vomiting, hiccups, stomach disturbances..
Other side effects, not mentioned here also may be manifested. Doctor’s advice
should be sought in all cases.
Other drugs affecting Carisoprodol : The doctor should be informed
if one is taking any other medication, before beginning to use Carisoprodol. They
